Costume Emergency!

Have you ever had your kid refuse to wear their Halloween costume? This is the story of how that happened to us!

I took inspiration from Dear Lizzy's similar page in CK!

I had to throw in a tiny owl too!

Love the idea of using little scraps, brads, word stickers and smooch as tiny embellies. I will do this again!

Why oh Why don't nurses listen to me? I tell them that my veins like to hide and that no nurse for the last 5 years has been able to get blood or put an IV in my arm and yet they still try!!!

It's like my translucent skin with veins so bright calls to them, poke me!!!! Or they think I am throwing down the gauntlet and testing their nurses skills! Then this is what I get! Blown veins and a bruise the size of Texas that hurts like hell! I swear the next one to try it is gonna get it!
I had my Lithotripsy done and this is what the machine looks like. They take that curved portion of the bed out and put a jello mold (LOL) next to your back and shoot shock waves at it! The anesthesiologist said it is like getting whipped in the back with a wet towel, which might be funny the first 5 times but I got it 5000 times! Thank goodness for morphine!!!
I am apparently supposed to take it easy and not make any "major life decisions" in the next 24 hours because I am legally impaired LOL!!!

Fingers crossed that this actually worked!

Charmed...

I'm sure! My mom's church has an event called Trunk or Treat every year for the little kids. Everyone decorated their trunks in the church parking lot and kid can trick or treat through the rows of cars until all the candy is gone :D

This year they got glow in the dark bracelettes that provided all the fun for the ride home!

These glitter letters are quite interesting. The font makes it hard to read for some letters but easy to interchange letters. The r looks like an upside down j!

I am usually too lazy to cover chipboard so I buy it white or don't bother. However, Hayley had these adorable Maya Road trees and I couldn't resist them. She's so sweet to give some to me - she rocks, go check out her blog!

I absolutely loooove this Making Memories patterned paper! Really wish I'd bought more of it!

Picture of the Day
I've been going to the hospital a lot for tests and they are super duper paranoid about germs these days! Huge stations for antibacterial gel and giant posters of doctors with their hands out saying, "Stop, use the gel, someone's life may depend on it!" That H1N1 flu has everyone super freaked out!

This guy was my favourite! Clearly a huge dork that will use any excuse to put on his Star Trek uniform! LOVE IT! The funny thing is that his nick name is Bones but he is holding up his Spock fingers!

Are you worried about swine flu? a germaphobe?

Eat, Drink and be Scary!

This picture is of Serenity stuffing her face with chocolate after Trick or Treating! I think she thought she'd better eat as much as she could because we were going to take it away!

I am alllll about the Halloween layouts these days! I just got out all my papers and embellies and am going to work on Halloween layouts until I am sick of them.

I realized that the pictures I have the most of are Christmas and Halloween! They are also my least scrapped photos - no clue why but I am rectifying that now! (as soon as I am done with Halloween - Christmas here I come LOL)

What topic do you take lots of pics of but never seem to scrap?

This is what happens when your toddler is tired of you trying to get a good shot for your picture of the day LOL!!

me and martha

ok, so we both are gonna decorate for Halloween but somehow I think her house is gonna look better LOL!
I love to decorate for any holiday by doing crafts with the girls all the way up until said Holiday. It gives us a theme and then at the end I can throw it all away! This year I am trying to upcycle as much as possible so the milk jug skeletons (see down a few posts) are a start.

Luckily, Martha has a website and we are free to steal her ideas! (hey, we're not selling them, we're doing kids crafts, so back off LOL)
Here are Martha's pumpkin jars:
Here are ours:
We used a variety of jars and paints (one is glow in the dark) and i punched out a few shapes for the girls to choose from for the faces.
I think ours are funnier!

In keeping with the sunny feel:

I used orange smooch for the first time and i'm not sure if i like it. I wish liquid pearls came in orange - stickles are too glittery for my taste.

PS. Those are Martha's clouds on my page too!!

Boo 2 U!

I love these pictures of Rayna playing Hide and Seek at my mom's house. She soooo didn't get the concept. She'd count to 10 (with Auntie Sarah's help) then peek out from behind the tree and laugh soooo hard if she could see you. Then she'd jump out and yell BOOO! Hilarious!

I'm really getting into the Halloween spirit - can't wait for October and the Pumpkin Patch!

Loving this notebook and fridge pad - totally appealed to my sassy side! (there was a 'nice' notebook but it was soooo boring LOL)
Does anyone else love a little notebook?

Halloween is a Hoot!

Halloween is a HOOT! Click on the pic if you want to see it larger.

I tried something new and made these spiral flowers. For my page I made them the centers of my flowers but they can stand alone too.

I first saw these flowers on Ally Scraps and she said to cut a 4x4 or 5x5 square but those flowers turned out to be WAYYYY too tall to put in a scrapbook album (but would be very cool on an altered item).

First, you cut a square. Mine is 1 3/4 x 1 3/4 inches (the shortest one above). Then you cut a rough circle from that square. Then you cut a spiral out of the circle. Be sure to cut it with wavy lines so that you get the look of petals later (no perfect spirals here - toooo boring!). Leave a bit of the circle in the middle so that you can put your glue dot on it and it will hold the flower together.

Then you start rolling up the spiral from the outside in. That's right, the OUTSIDE in! That way the left over bit in the center can be the anchor for your flower. To begin with roll it very tight because you can loosen it up later.

When it is all rolled up, loosen it up a bit. The looser the roll the wider the flower becomes. When you are happy with it's size, stick a glue dot on the base of it to hold it together. The big glue dots will hold several of the layers in place. To get more height, push the center of the flower down/inwards.

I also scratched mine up a bit with my finger nails to make it less perfect.

I think I might try to make one with a scalloped circle to see how the scallops look in the center of the flower!

Got these mints at Michaels - funny tin :D

A little dirt never hurt

Rayna just kills me! As a baby she ate sand and dirt wherever we went. The funny part was that when you caught her and cleaned her mouth out she'd cry like crazy. Like dirt tasted good to her! LOL

I love how my row of pumpkins turned out. I just used a circle punch and my paper crimper to make the pumpkins and then inked them so that you could see the crimping. Then rick rack for stems and felt for leaves and voila - my own pumpkin patch!

I also like how my journalling looks like it is coming out of the pumpkin, like the pumpkin is yelling!
We went to the Blueberry Farm and this was Serenity's haul. Such a tidy picker, no leaves and almost no stems. Stella said she was hired!
Look how proud she is!
Look at those blueberry eyes!

Even Skyler liked her first taste of blueberry!
Get out to your local farms - it is soooo fun!

Wordle me this...

I decided to make a page, solely made up of words, to encourage myself everyday! I really liked the look of the wordles so I copied the look for my page!

Of course, wordle cracked me up by separating words that i wanted together so some of this looks funny. Like "say i" or "you floss"! LOL

This was super easy to do because I am both a Thickers and Fancy Brad addict! (no, i am not seeking help, I love being addicted!) LOL
And because I love a good close up!
To all you ladies who put others first - do something for yourself today! Put on some perfume and makeup, buy a new outfit, get out in the sunshine and exercise! (or pound back a few shots of Jose Quervo, whatever works for you LOL)

Updates

UPDATE: Just like Melissa said, Fiskars is sending me a $20 gift card to Michaels! I sure hope they still carry the Threading Water Punch because I am going to use a 40% off coupon and then buy other stuff! Woot Woot!

At the end of an emotionally charged day (dealing with my kidney stone issue) I had nothing left to give the girls and just needed a bit of time to decompress. I flipped through the book Jen gave me and found a page that said "let your toddlers wash your money." Perfect! You would not believe how long they spent washing my pennies with a toothbrush, soap and water! THANK YOU JEN!!!!

When did instructions go from words to pictures? Is it that they think we're stupid? Is it for E.S.L. people? Do people really come out of the change room with their ass hanging out?

Story time is back at the library (why they don't do it in the summer I'll never know) and now Skyler is able to enjoy it too. Amazing that all 3 of them looked at me at the same time! Notice that Serenity is sitting on the "S" for Serenity. She thinks it's her seat. LOL

"Mommy, I'm going to be a mermaid."
"How are you going to do that baby?"
"Look"
~ and there Serenity was in her pillowcase, being a mermaid! LOL Rayna decided to be a mermaid too!

This is what happens when you go for a shower and the girls get in the fridge! They find the juice boxes (which were for a playdate we are going to) and drink as many as they can before you get out! I don't normally give them juice at home so they knew they weren't supposed to!

Then I look in the fridge and it is like some wild beast has been at the food - check out the teeth marks on this cantaloupe!

That's my update. What's new with you?

Who's Dirty?

get your minds out of the gutter! LOL My girls do NOT like to be dirty - they'll even get down from the dinner table mid meal to get cleaned up LOL!

Rayna was fine running around like a woman possessed and falling down too - until she saw that her hands were dirty. I cleaned them up for her but after that she kept em in her pockets! Soooo cute!

Any excuse to use an owl! Loving the string art around scalloped circles - i like not having to poke the holes for it!

Do you like my stringy pumpkin? I like the guy with the craaaazy eyes!

Dear Fiskars - What the Fudge? My punch just fell apart when I picked it up! Soooo writing them this letter - will let you know the outcome!

I felt like the Hulk - one touch of my hand and the thing is broken LOL!
