Things that are better in theory than in practice (including but not limited to...)
1. convertibles (seriously, it's loud with all that wind whipping around you and you get totally messed up hair - and some jerk kid could throw a milkshake in it while it is parked)
2. taking your four year old to paint ceramics (she gets bored after the first coat and makes you do the next 2 - all the while asking you to hurry up and can we get something to eat and she's bored....)
Things that are underrated:
1. the packaging that any gift comes in - tissue paper, bags, boxes, etcetera are sometimes more exciting to the kid than the actual gift!
2. disposable diapers - seriously, they are the BEST!!!3. sleep - blessed sleep!
4. shopping at IKEA - hey, you can ride a cart, run on a premarked and arrowed pathway, try out beds and get a cinnamon bun at the end.
Anything you find under/overrated?

PS - Melissa asked about the milk jug skeletons (click here for the link).
I'm going to try to make them a bit different this year and use big brads to connect most of the pieces because the hot glue sometimes got brittle and had to be reapplied.
Also, if you are going to paint them with glow in the dark paint, do it AFTER you glue the pieces on, otherwise the glue will just stick to the paint and then peel off in the night - scaring the beeejeezus out of you when you hear half a skeleton fall to the floor LOL!

i wish i had an ikea :( i hear so many great things about them!
as for disposable diapers, they were an absolute necessity when my little guy was still in them. i know some people want to use cloth ones or whatever, but just the thought of cleaning them (EW!) or spending money to have them cleaned kept me away from them. i mean, i'm environmentally friendly and all that, but when it comes to diapers, NOOOO.
lol...excellent post! i agree with you on the disposable diapers... i love disposable diapers..or i should say i did love em when my kids were in them! ikea...none around here...i'm jealous! me wants a cinnamon bun!

Last, I want to make the milk jug skeletons!!! With 2 boys and a DH, we go through 2 gallons a week. I checked out the link on how to make them, but since I failed my "rocket science" course in college, I don't get it!!! maybe, IDK, I think it needs pictures for each step. Maybe that is it. I can't wait to see yours!!!!

Ha! It's so true about the packaging, although I'm not sold on that ceramic boredom- I really, really want to go to one of those places! But IKEA... yes, IKEA is one of the top 10 places in the world. And I say that having been to 30 countries!
