Friday Funnies - My Arse!

Yup, that's a rip in my jeans from my hiking adventure with Sarah.

Ok, so you are already laughing, but here's the "hole" story anyway!

We decide to go out and hike the trails in Larabee State Park and for the first part of the day it's hiking, gabbing, geocaching and picture taking like any other day.  See:
(frame the sun challenge)
(my first ever First to Find)
(the Face of Rock)

Then things start to get "interesting" when we cannot decide whether or not to go on the marked trail or the one leading up that we see a whole bunch of hikers coming down on.  So we ask them, if the trail leads back to our car and they say yes (BTW - they were BOYS - never ever listen to boys in the woods). We start hiking up and are totally psyched.  We figure we'll get to a cool overlook and then start going down.

REALITY: No cool overlook and then we start going down......STRAIGHT DOWN!
This may not look like much but when Sarah ran down it she actually got airborne and totally wiped out at the bottom.
We decided to try different tactics whenever we came to one of these steep spots, but the best tactic seemed to be butt-skiing or shoe-boarding down each one.  I even tried swinging from a tree once.  Ouch, strained my shoulder on that one.
(scream tree - even it is scared)

At one point, I'm sliding down this super steep section, have a hole ripped in my pants, a cloud of dirt around me (a la Pig Pen from Charlie Brown) and I get an enormous case of the giggles!  I can't stop thinking about getting dirt in my butt and how crazy it all is.  I keep anticipating some insurmountable rock wall at the end of it all and how it would be impossible to go BACK UP all of this.

Sarah and I laugh uncontrollably with tears in our eyes for at least the next 10 minutes (great stress reliever).  So glad we were together on this and took it 20 feet at a time. Obviously we made it out ok in the end but we did walk 2 miles out of our way to get out.

LESSON: Never leave the marked trail! (and never listen to boys)

We did go on to have a very fun rest of our day where I geocached with an enormous hole in my pants and she "had my back."  I drew the line at going into a restaurant for dinner though so we ate at a drive-in. We finally found a great view too - but we drove up to it!
Any adventures for you lately?
