Friday Funnies - My Arse!

Yup, that's a rip in my jeans from my hiking adventure with Sarah.

Ok, so you are already laughing, but here's the "hole" story anyway!

We decide to go out and hike the trails in Larabee State Park and for the first part of the day it's hiking, gabbing, geocaching and picture taking like any other day.  See:
(frame the sun challenge)
(my first ever First to Find)
(the Face of Rock)

Then things start to get "interesting" when we cannot decide whether or not to go on the marked trail or the one leading up that we see a whole bunch of hikers coming down on.  So we ask them, if the trail leads back to our car and they say yes (BTW - they were BOYS - never ever listen to boys in the woods). We start hiking up and are totally psyched.  We figure we'll get to a cool overlook and then start going down.

REALITY: No cool overlook and then we start going down......STRAIGHT DOWN!
This may not look like much but when Sarah ran down it she actually got airborne and totally wiped out at the bottom.
We decided to try different tactics whenever we came to one of these steep spots, but the best tactic seemed to be butt-skiing or shoe-boarding down each one.  I even tried swinging from a tree once.  Ouch, strained my shoulder on that one.
(scream tree - even it is scared)

At one point, I'm sliding down this super steep section, have a hole ripped in my pants, a cloud of dirt around me (a la Pig Pen from Charlie Brown) and I get an enormous case of the giggles!  I can't stop thinking about getting dirt in my butt and how crazy it all is.  I keep anticipating some insurmountable rock wall at the end of it all and how it would be impossible to go BACK UP all of this.

Sarah and I laugh uncontrollably with tears in our eyes for at least the next 10 minutes (great stress reliever).  So glad we were together on this and took it 20 feet at a time. Obviously we made it out ok in the end but we did walk 2 miles out of our way to get out.

LESSON: Never leave the marked trail! (and never listen to boys)

We did go on to have a very fun rest of our day where I geocached with an enormous hole in my pants and she "had my back."  I drew the line at going into a restaurant for dinner though so we ate at a drive-in. We finally found a great view too - but we drove up to it!
Any adventures for you lately?

Is that a BEAR?

Yes, it is!! It's a mama bear and her two cubs. Went for a walk on the dike with my friend and our little monkeys and guess who we saw on our way back to the car!  Luckily she was busy and we walked quickly and noisily away!

Babies in the water and Mama by the log.
We also saw this Heron.
And a crocodile?.....geocache LOL
and a dinosaur travel bug!
It was definitely a day for the creatures!  Seen any scary creatures lately?

Friday Funnies - Back to School Outfits

Oh my how my girls sometimes put together doozie outfits!  So I thought I would teach them a bit about mixing and matching.  I explained how sometimes you can pick a top or bottom and use one of the colors in it to pick the other half of your outfit.  Then I asked them to make some outfits for me with their new and old clothes.

Sweet Rayna picks a yellow tshirt and goes and gets orange shorts because, "Now I can look like the Sun!  The Sun is orange and yellow!" Can't fault her logic there. LOL  These are the outfits they chose for their first day of school.

Do you have trouble with your wardrobe?

Friday Funnies - Superheros!

As most of you know, Lucius had a Superhero themed Birthday party and I made awesome costumes for each of the 4 monkeys.  He was less than enthused.  Skyler showed a bit of enthusiasm.

Rayna was into it:
But Serenity, well, she was a SUPERSTAR!  Check it out!
Now for the funny:

Not long ago my kids started collecting fairy stones (glass stones) from Geocaches.  Skyler is none too reliable about where she leaves them so I always worry Lucius will swallow one.  Instead, she drops her red one down the toilet and Rayna decides to flush it.

However, this red stone just won't die and it keeps coming back up.  Finally, one day Rayna runs out to Daddy and says, "Skyler's fairy stone is in the potty, please, please come and get it."

So my SUPERHERO goes into the bathroom and bare handed grabs that fairy stone right out of the potty.  HOWEVER, it turns out NOT to be a fairy stone, but instead is a rock hard piece of Rayna's POO!!!!! ACK!!!

Poor Snuffy!  He wanted to kill Rayna!

Lucius is 2 and he'll cry if he wants to!

Poor little man, so many tears today.  Perhaps he was overwhelmed, perhaps it is the terrible twos. Just remember, whenever your own kid is bad it's because they are tired or hungry.  Whenever anyone else's kid is bad it's because of bad parenting. LOL

That's right, I made awesome superhero costumes for all the monkeys and Lucius decided he didn't want to wear his (however, while I was making them he never wanted to take it off) sigh....
He did like the phone booth :D
Here he is trying to show how many "fingers" he is.
A Super present.
So shocked by his new train table he doesn't quite know what to do.  He even shook a bit!
He loved his train table so much that he cried hysterically when I put him in his chair for his cake.  I am the Meanest Mom Ever for making him have cake. LOL
He recovered quickly (hey, it's ice cream cake) and started playing with Auntie Jen!
This is what he looked like the next day after playing with the felts Auntie Jen gave him! GASP!  Thank goodness he's washable!  Party ON!
