One way to Beat the Heat

Super yummy way to beat the heat! I know it is cooler today because Snuffy came home and said, "You're not as bitchy today!" (and I actually laughed). Yesterday that might have gotten him an injury LOL!

Thought I'd show you a COOL layout too! I saw something similar in CK and knew it would be right for these photos.

I glimmer misted the snowflakes and sewed their falling trails.

Auntie Sarah is so much fun - she ALWAYS plays with the girls!

This is a ghost snowflake that I added a bit of bling to! Hope wherever you are is nice and COOL!!

i heart u rayna

Still in a heat wave here! Sincerely wishing for rain just so we can all get some sleep. For the first time ever I drove around for over an hour with the kids in the air conditioned car just so they could get some sleep! (weirdly enough I found an outdoor pool and several parks I never knew were there. Does anyone else do this? We also played the girl's fave car game - Eye Spy! Hence, my pic of the day!

Loving my new leather couches as a backdrop for pics of my girls. So much better than our old stained beat up green couch! LOL

Melting..

We are melting in this HEAT! It was 94 degrees in my house yesterday. So I just have a quick post of my girl! No pic of the day today, I want to turn my puter off quick so it doesn't heat up the room!

I saw the paper pleating on someone's blog but for the life of me i can't remember who (momnesia).

This was the first time I tried paper pleating and the paper I cut wasn't long enough so i had to stretch it out and put a few stitches in it to hold it down. I still love how it turned out!

2 by 2 hands of blue

I have been meaning to post but the HEAT WAVE is making me sluggish beyond all reason! I went cropping with my sister this weekend for her birthday and this is one of the pages I completed! I have lots more to share but am too sticky to do it all in one post (it is 88 degrees in my house and it is 10:30 pm!)

*Note: DH remains Snuffy - this is only his back LOL! Speaking of the DH, look what I found on my kitchen counter. (my picture of the day yesterday)

All I could think was "2 by 2, hands of blue" from the Firefly series!
Does anyone else's DH or partner bring home weird stuff??

12 Days of Christmas Traditions

Welcome to the Blog Party hosted by Just Add Glitter and Stir (aka Maggi)! My party is all about traditions. I love my Christmases old fashioned and snow white with Santa drinking a Coke.

Here are 12 of MY traditions:
1. Movie - Watching my fave Christmas movie of all time - White Christmas! But since I am a HUGE fan of the movies in general, all movies set at Christmas time also count as Christmas movies. So I watch Die Hard too! LOL!!

2. Sending Cards - I've always sent cards but in recent years I've been making them. This is this year's card! (yes, I am already done all of my Christmas Cards! - there IS something wrong with me!)
3. Song - "I'll Be Home For Christmas" sung by Bing Crosby is one of the most incredible songs EVER! He sure has THE VOICE of Christmas for me! Click on my sidebar to listen to it while you read my post!

4. Cutting Down our own Tree - This is a new tradition for us. I did it a few times when I was a kid and loved it so much that I'm going to do it every year for our kids!

5. THE Story/Legend: Santa actually came to my house when we were kids! No lie! He came at 2 AM and all he said was "Ho Ho Ho" as he motioned for my Mom to bring the gifts into the house that were surrounding him! AMAZING! When Mom came and told us that Santa was downstairs and to get out of bed we grumbled and moaned and didn't believe her! She made us get up and it was a free-for-all when we saw Santa and all those presents! After that, no kid could tell US there was no Santa - we'd seen him!!!

6. Sneak-a-peek - Confession: I love to snoop! Ever since I was a child I've always snooped around for my gifts. It's so bad that my DH has left my gifts at his parent's house so I couldn't get at them! I always want to shake, squeeze, sniff and poke at the gift until .............ooooops, it's opened a bit and I can SEE it! LOL!

7. Snow: I love the snow and always wish for a white Christmas! 2008 brought the first White Christmas for all of Canada since 1971!

8. Letters to Santa: Did you know that you can write to Santa and he'll write back? Write to: Santa Clause c/o The North Pole, Canada HOH OHO. The girls loved writing their letters and taking them out to put them in the mail box.
9.Matching PJ's: I buy the girls matching pj's that they get to open and wear on Christmas Eve! That way, Christmas morning they coordinate and I can tell which Christmas the pictures are from at a glance! (if only Old Navy would make matching Patterned Paper - then I would truly be in Heaven)

10. Fave drink: Eggnog, it's not Christmas until I get some Eggnog! There are recipes at http://www.eggnogrecipe.net/ (but i'll drink mine right from the carton!)

11.The Best Gift Ever: was given to us this past Christmas. Our baby girl Skyler was born 2 days before Christmas!

12. Gifts - What Christmas would be complete without GIFTS!

BBQ

Is there anything better than homemade burgers and potatoes? As some of you know, i hate cooking so i love the summer! Dh is great at BBQ, which means i don't have to cook!! YES!! What is your favourite summer food?

Dentist

My picture of the day for yesterday is one i took at the Dentist! I admit, I am unafraid of the Dentist and so far it looks like the girls are OK too. Bummer is that I have an actual cavity and that hasn't happened in years! Anyone out there dentist chickens?

I love this picture because I didn't know you could get whimsical stained glass!

Anti-Camping Rant

I have been thinking a lot about this and here is why i don't like camping!

1. OUTSIDE is where the BUGS live!!! Seriously, I don't want them in my house so I am sure they don't want me in theirs!

2. Roughing it! Couldn't have a more appropriate name! I like comfort!

3. Indoor Plumbing! Shower, running water and toilets were invented for a REASON!

4. Germs and Dirt! YUCK! Yes, I am mostly an indoor girl!

5. No FIRES! The only good thing about camping is the fires and they NEVER let you have one because the forest fire threat level is always at Defcon 1 or something!

6. I have a house! I pay good money for it, why leave it?

However, when you look at these faces and see how happy we are AND WE HAVEN'T EVEN LEFT THE DRIVEWAY, you know we'll keep going back!

Early Christmas

I'm feeling better today! Not 100%, but better and that is GOOD! Thanks for all your well wishes. Thought I would share a page i did last weekend! Every year I do a photo shoot of the girls for our Christmas card and the results are always unpredictable!

This year it was beautiful out but FREEZING so our photo shoot had to be quick, quick, quick and took a little bribery too!

The other mothers in the park were laughing at me yelling out things like, "look over at Mommy, just a few more minutes and you can have your coats back and a candy cane, stop chasing the ducks!"

health update and candy..

ok, so the dr. called me in today to say that i have a kidney infection too! results of all those tests they did on me on sunday grew something FIERCE! so i need more medicine UGH! the medicine mades me sooo nauseated that i can't even turn my head too quickly! Taking it one day at a time here, lots of water and active culture yoghurt (keep hydrated ladies)! I was also told to be on the blandest diet ever, basically carb city! if only i felt like eating!

About 12 hours after i take my meds i feel ok for a bit so i am trying to catch up on all my blogs and bits and found some uber cool blog candy on Callista's blog. For some reason i can't get the picture to show up but you should go to her blog to see it - i love the Jenny Bowlin and Cosmo Cricket.

ps - if you scroll down a few posts to my clockwork orange post and look in the comments you will see that TIM HOLTZ stopped by to pay me a compliment - WOWSER!!! made my sicky-poo day :)

Emergency!!!

I'm sorry to have been away for so long but i have been sick! Trip-to-the-ER-in-the-middle-of-the-night-sick! The kind of sick where you want to curl into a ball and die!

The crazy thing is that it happened while we were in Harrison Hot Springs on our mini-vaca with the babies! Thank God our friends were there to watch the girls and lend us their van so my dh could drive me to the ER in Chilliwack doing mach 10 down the back roads all the way!

I truly thought, after calling 811 (health BC - access to the 24 hour nurse line) and they said "get thee to a hospital NOW" that my appendix was going to burst! Scary to think that I might die and that my girls would never remember me!

However, after mucho pain and having my veins blown out while trying to insert an IV (several times) the Dr. came and said the magic words "we'll get you something for the pain." Oh blessed morphine, you are my very very best friend!

There were actual bets going on as to what was wrong with me, but the overall concensus seemed to be that i had kidney stones. Do you know what they do for kidney stones? NOTHING! That's right, they give you pain meds and make you pee them out! GREAT

But, after all that, it turns out i had a raging BLADDER infection! WHAT????? Even though i had no pain in my frontal area at all????? I'm no anatomy major but back and side pain don't equal a bladder infection to me but who was i to argue in my happily stoned state?

It has been four days of the fetal position now and i am finally starting to feel better - it may take awhile to get back to fighting strength and posting my pics and things so hang in there for me :)

clockwork orange

Instead of smiling, Serenity decided to give me a nightmare face!

I totally saw the front cover of the Clockwork Orange movie box!
I made an "O" out of a googly eye and a gear from a Bo Bunny piece of patterned paper!
I made the minutes on my clock with my new tiny "attacker" and even adhered the gears with it! Loving the tiny attacher, it goes through anything!

I even got LOTD at the Paper Passion for it! Yeah!

when the going gets tough...

the tough go SHOPPING!

I got a coupon from Build-a-Bear via email so I took the girls and they got new outfits for Rosebud and Princess Kitty!

Jammies for Rosebud (since Serenity would prefer to spend her whole life in jammies) and Rayna chose the glitter and glam! Check out those Wizard of Oz shoes!

I promise to get creative this weekend! I'll be at the online crop at the Paper Passion this weekend. Why don't you join me! (see sidebar)

Swimming through fog & a tiny 'attacker'

Did you ever have one of those days that you were soooo sleep deprived that you felt like you were swimming through a fog? That's me!

It got so bad that I was driving with the window open and the AC on to stay awake (even the road noise was conspiring to make me sleepy). So I made an emergency stop at Starbucks for a big tea with lots of sugar. Well, it woke me up alright, but not because of the caffeine! Because I burnt my tongue so bad I SWEAR I'll never taste anything on the tip again!!!!!!

Seriously, do they NEED to make it that hot? How bout a warning?

PS - there actually IS a warning (which I only discovered when I was taking a pic of the cup after I fished it out of my trash). But look at how big it is! They expect me to read the FINE PRINT in my state????

Soooooo, I finally get home safely (phew) only to realize that when I went to delete ONE picture that was all blurry I actually deleted them ALL!!!! ARGH!!!!
This is my very long explanation as to why my pic of the day is a bloody Starbucks cup and NOT one of the girls 1st ever Gymnastics class!

Laterg8r

PS - My tiny "attacker" (Kathy's term) came in the mail today from the Paper Passion and I'm all thrilled to get it but too afraid to use it today because in the state i'm in i'd probably staple myself to the table!!!!!

sittin pretty

Check it out!!!! Skyler is sitting up on her own for the very 1st time!!! and lookin super cute in the new outfit my mom bought her!

Sarah is still visiting and we took her to see Ice Age 3 today. Even Skyler liked it. However, if you ask Serenity and Rayna they'll probably say they liked the popcorn best! LOL
Nothing crafty today, maybe tomorrow if i can get Skyler to bed.

Charming Rayna

My picture of the day is Rayna turning on the charm! She wants some of Sarah's Flurry and is circling her like a little vulture. With sweet baby chit chat like, "you have chocolate in yours, it looks yummy" and a bit of drool to go with it.

Who could resist that sweet sweet face? on the other hand.....

At first I wasn't sure what to do with these spinner cards (even though I bought them) LOL! But I love how this turned out when I cut it up and made it circular (the original was square)!

I love how this flower turned out! It's a mixture of Prima, Bo Bunny, Crate Paper and Jillybean Soup!
I have really been grooving on using TV shows as titles for my LO's lately. I already did "Canada's Next Top Model" (see post below) and want to do "Three's Company". Can you think of any TV shows that would make good scrapbook titles? I'd love some suggestions!

Raspberries

Skyler is NOT loving me lately! This is how she expresses her displeasure most of the time. A great big raspberry spit shower for Mommy! NICE! Can't imagine how sweet she'll be as a teenager! LOL!

It took me forever to cut out these little trees and distress them but i love how they look!

I couldn't resist using a bit of liquid pearls (my latest obsession) on the owl eyes! Dymo journalling is super easy and a cool design element (IMHO). I know someone else who loves to Dymo journal (Aphra) - check her out!

My picture of the day for yesterday is Skyler taking her bottle.

whack a mole

Whatever you say about us, we sure do know how to get out our aggression! My mom and sister came to visit today and played Whack-a-Mole like they were trying to win (against a 2 and 4 year old) LOL!!!

Over the Hump

Woo Hoo! I am officially over the hump for Project 365 and man has it been a lot of work! Remembering to take the everyday photos has been tough. Major committment!

What I do love is that it will be an incredible snapshot of our lives when the babies were so young! Like Trace Adkins says, "You're gonna miss this, You're gonna want this back. You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast. These are some good times. So take a good look around. You may not know it now, but you're gonna miss this!"

What are you gonna miss about your lives right now?

Masked Lady

Yesterday's picture is of my masked little lady! She has taken so well to the medicine - she even likes to make a ooh ahh noise when she breathes in and out! Hopefully she'll be better soon. I know she's feeling a bit better because she's starting to ask for freezies again. LOL

Nothing crafty to report because i've been too busy with sicky poo but hopefully i'll get to something tonight.

A day late

Happy Canada Day! I know I am a day late but that's just how my blog rolls! I was thinking about how proud I am to be Canadian and that made me remember the old Molson commercials.
I loooove this rant!

"Hey,I'm not a lumberjack, or a Furtrader,
and I don't live in an igloo, or eat blubber or own a dogsled.
And I don't know Jimmy, Sally or Suzy from Canada,
although I'm certain they're really, really nice.
I have a prime minister... not a president,
I speak English and French, not American
and I pronounce it About, not A-boot.
I can proudly sew my country's flag on my backpack,
I believe in peacekeeping, not policing, diversity not assimilation,
and that the beaver is a truly proud and noble animal.
A toque is a hat, a chesterfield is a couch,
and it IS pronounced Zed, not Zee... ZED!!
Canada is the 2nd largest land mass, the 1st nation of hockey,
and the best part of North America.
My name is Joe...and...I......AM......CANADIAN!"
Is Skyler trying to crawl or worshipping the book? You tell me!

Easter and the Croup

I can't seem to stop scrapbooking about Easter - weird!

Got the inspiration for this LO from Cad Scrapbooker Mag - Spring '09.

Love how the circles turned out and cannot stop using liquid pearls - wish i had green.

Scary night monday night because Serenity woke up with the croup. You would have sworn there was a seal in pain in her room and she got sick-up all over herself from coughing so hard.

Picture of the day is her at the Dr. office. Pray that the baby doesn't get it because if she does it will be middle of the night trips to the hospital for me!

Laterg8r
PS. medicine seemed to work last night - no seals!
