H is for Haircut

I am participating in Jenny's Alphabe-Thursday!  If you want to join in or just see the other participant's posts, just click on the link on my sidebar!  C'mon, it's FUN and there are prizes!

Isn't it every mom's nightmare that the kids will get the scissors and cut their own hair?

Well, I gave her the scissors!  Oooops!  She was soooo good, cutting only paper, until she wasn't!

Reminds me of the poem:

There was a little girl with a little curl right in the middle of her forehead.
When she was good, she was very very good,
But when she was bad she was horrid!

I found these locks under her chair and when I asked her why she cut it she said: "too many curls in the way"

This is where she gave herself a bald spot!  Oh well, it could be worse, she could have cut her bangs!  This i can cover up!

What's the worst thing you did to yourself as a kid?

I can't think of anything I did at the moment but my younger sister shoved a bean up her nose and we had to take her to the doctor to get it out!

Ohhh dear...yes, those curls definitely get in the way.
I was a perfect child...so, LOL...I didn't do much to get into trouble as a kid(teenager is another story)...although there was the time I called my cousins assholes at the beach(I was about 8)...the ran home to tell on me and made it before I did...I burst through the door to declare that "Well, maybe my donkey had a HOLE in it!"
I still got my mouth washed out with soap...blech.

Oh no! lol I don't remember if I ever cut my own hair or not. Glad she picked a spot that's easily hidden! lol

You're right, you can still cover the bald spot..I don't remember what I did as a child, but I remember my oldest son stuck a bean in his nose :-)

Don't beat yourself up over the "trim". I teach 4 year olds and they are quick as lightening with scissors. I have had many of them trim their hair or even worse, trim someone elses!

I don't remember what I did as a child. Holland was at war at the time and I don;t remember much except only for kissing the neighbourboy.

I dread the day JDaniel gets a hold of scissors. Thanks for stopping by.

I cut mine when I was 6...right before Easter morning church service...and right at my forehead! I'll never live that one down...luckily my kids never cut their hair! Great post!

lol i love reading this post and all the comments..totally funny...melissa's comment made me laugh so hard!

anyway never did stuff like that but my sister did a bunch of crap like breaking dozens of eggs and dumping boxes of cereal early in the morning while everyone was sleeping...she was a bit crazy.

one of my nieces gave herself a bang trim that left about 1 inch of bangs...sooooo funny.

kids..they crack me up!

have a great day and scrap a pg. about this!

Thanks for commenting at my blog. Everyone of my kids has cut their own hair! I got into my mom's red lipstick and artfully spread it all over my face! :D

You are right, be glad it wasn't her bangs. "Too many curls in the way" - that's priceless. I was playing "beauty shop" with my cousins once (yes, the ones in the wedding reception picture!) and mom walked in just as they were about to cut my hair at the base of my ponytail! Kathy

Ok, so the worst thing I did to myself (and my brother) as a kid was to tie our sleds together with a jump rope and then slide down the hill in front of our house. It was really steep and we crashed both sleds into a parked car. We hid in the bathroom and wrapped toilet around our cuts and then cleaned all the blood off the sink and floor and never told my mother. I still have the scars on my elbow.

Dumb, huh?

Oh my goodness - you are right, at least she didn't cut the bangs!

Hmmm, the worst thing might have been ( I hate to admit this) - my mother gave me a chewable tylenol (or maybe it was children's asprin back then) and i guess I didn't want to chew it because I stuck it up my nose! Yep, a little embarassing, but I was just little!

Sure hope you are feeling better soon!
Cheers,
Shanna :)

I think I once stuck a tiny leggo up my nose but it came out when I blew it. I was a cowardly child. Any other injuries or mishaps were due to my famous clumsiness.

Hmmm, I'm pretty sure I was a perfect child, but I did take the permanent markers to my white sheets when I was about four. I had seen these beautiful floral sheets in a catalog, so I wanted to surprise my mom by doing that to my own sheets. Mom was surprised, alright, but not in the happy way I had imagined...

I think that every child goes through this at least once. If not by their own hand then by the hand of a sibling or playmate.

So nice that you could get the photo to document it for posterity. She will love/hate it when she is older.

Nice choice for the theme.

Thanks for stopping by to view my overabundance of hats. I love your comment.

My daughter is also a Carrie.

Cute post. My granddaughter had someone else cut her hair at daycare. The only think I remember doing to myself was climbing on a chair after being told not to and fell knocking out one of my front teeth way before it was suppose to come out. I went a very long time before the adult tooth grew in.

Well, I have a school picture of me in 4th grade...with very crooked bangs (o:

OH my! I, too, cut my hair (bangs) one day right before I was supposed to have my picture taken professionally. My mom flipped out and made me have my picture taken anyway. I think that I was about 10 at the time and probably should have known better. We have an 11x14 of that picture by the way!

Oh :) Aren't they sweet, though, those little girl curls? It does look like a good hidden spot too. My son took it right off the front when he was about 7. I don't remember anything like this for myself (suppressed), but when I was in middle school I did get a perm & haircut a la orphan Annie when what I really wanted was just a body wave. Teenage traumas. Fun, CUTE post.

So many of our kids did similar things to their hair. It's all about experimentation. What ELSE will the scissors cut?

Table cloths and curtains are now at risk in your home! ;)

Good Morning,

I guess cutting our own hair is a "rite of passage" for all kids! I really don't know many that have NOT done that!

The worse thing that I can think of that I did as a child was eat the mudpies we made AND roll up paper bags real tight and make "cigarettes" out of them. We actually lit them and smoke them just like a cigarette. It is funny just what all kids really try--the art of imitation!!

Thanks for sharing. Enjoy the weekend.

Bahaha, too cute! My youngest did the same thing. The first time we could get away with it and most people wouldn't notice but then a couple weeks later (Christmas Eve) she did it again on the same side with pinking shears! Oh my! When I took her to the hair dresser to fix it up - she went in with long blond curls and came out with very short dark hair, no curls!

Oh and by the way that poem was so my youngest, she was either happy or mad (usually mad, LOL) there was never an in between. Now she is awesome, always happy - thank goodness - at least till the terrible teen kicks in!

Oh too funny, you are right you cant hide the bangs! My daughter at about this age did quite a bang job! It did however make for a great layout! Beth

well i gave myself a home haircut, loping off most of my bangs ... just hours before a photographer came over to do a family portrait hehehe ... okay i was like maybe 5 ...

Hi! What a happy little H post. Even though self-induced haircuts are rarely cute...this one certainly was.

Worse thing? Probably nothing. I suspect I was a perfect child in everyway.

Although, oddly, my parents remember that a bit differently.

And this concerns me.

I am thinking it might be an obvious sigh of early severe memory loss.

But enough about me!

How about an A+ for you!

Worst thing i did as a kid... Well either cutting my friends hair.. we couldnt cover that up.. or biting my sister check. i think she still has a scar. and I'm still a biter!

My dd did this when she was in kindergarten! We has to take and get it professionally fixed, she freaks out now if anyone gets close to her with a pair of scissors!

How much time do you have??? LOL!!~

Oh, I'm sure I cut my hair or worse. I taught first grade for ten years and this happened more than once at school. Yikes! Fortunately the parents understood. Nothing like taking things into your own hands.
Another cute post!
