Speaking of hair...

I've been in a bit of a funk for awhile now.  Maybe it's the winter blahs but i prefer to think of it as a case of the mean reds (a la Breakfast at Tiffany's).

Sooooo, I decided to do something drastic to make me feel better.............

............and I cut 3 inches off my hair.............
............and Snuffy never even noticed!!!!! WHAT???

Not drastic enough, ok, let's take it to the next level and buy some hair dye!

This is what I bought:
Hey, I've used this color before!  However, this is what I got:
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!  Total nightmare - strawberry blonde and patchy as hell!  Where did I go wrong?????

Skyler said, "WOW" but that's her fave word right now so that wasn't a surprise!

Rayna said, "now you're yellow like me mommy" and seemed pleased.

Serenity said, "can you change it back tomorrow?"  (nope, sorry, I have to wait 3 days so my hair doesn't just fall out!!!)

Snuffy came home and said, "WHOAH"

.......and not in a 'whoah, i-got-myself-a-sexy-new-wife' but in a 'whoah, that-looks-awful-and-i-am-screwed-no-matter-what-i-say' way!!!!

It totally made me cry (and i'm not a hair drama queen)!!!

So this is what I bought to fix it:
Thank goodness it fixed it!

So the moral of the story is: beware, when you have the mean reds (and a possible fever from being sick)..............STOP.....................do NOT under any circumstances decide to dye your hair!

Have you ever done anything really bad to your hair???

i have more hair horror stories than anybody would care to hear...one time i did die it what i thought was going to be a darker brown and it came out jet black with a bluish undertone..and damn ugly...it took the hairdresser a bunch of phone calls to the company and hours to try to get it back to a normal color.

Commiserations, Carrie! My hair regularly looks as if I've just emerged from an exploding paint factory!

btw love to know what you think about my little weight/longevity conundrum over at my place?

Oh my! What a hair-raising experience! LOL!

I've always got my hair highlighted by a professional even though it's so much cheaper to do it at home...But I've stopped coloring for 2 years now...in my bid to be environmentally conscious...that is, until I have grey hairs...:)

Oh my goodness - what an awful experience! You seem to have a hair theme happening here lately!

Hmmm, perhaps that will teach Snuffy....maybe help him become more observant....lol

sure hope you are out of your funk soon, I was there a couple of weeks back and I know it's no fun!
Hang in there,
Shanna :)

Om gosh this post made me laugh! I love your snuffy quotes...hilarious. Actually, no matter how many times I "learn" my lesson I still do this same trick about every five years and ALWAYS regret it. That's about the time when I start to tell myself, I can do for 8 bucks what my hairdresser does for $140. And, then I go and give her double to make it go away! : ) xxx

I just got a haircut! The stylist asked if I colored my own hair! Guess it shows! But can't afford their prices!

I have natural curly hair and I tried to straighen it once and it was a frizzt mess! I just bite the bullet and pay the price to have it highlighted.

OOOOOHHHHHH! Poor sister. :(
I am so sorry you are in a funk. I think it is SAD. You need a full spectrum light; your house is too dark anyway. I love that your children think your hair color reflects upon them. The worst haircut I ever got was when the hairdresser mistook me for a marine and gave me high and tight (like Gibbs on NCIS) then I went home and cried, a lot. Oh, yes and I was sorry to hear you hadn't just dashed off to London for a quick holiday. LOL
Take care and I hope you feel better.

My worst experience was when I colored my hair and it turned out pumpkin orange. I went right to the drugstore and bought a brown color. I re-dyed it the same day, and it came out black. Everyone in the office ( about 40 people ) did a double-take when they first saw me. I don't like being the center of attention - it was a mortifying day.

Ahh, you made me laugh. Worst that happened to me was when I used to dye my hair blonde (very blonde), one time my hair went orangey colored, I have been dark ever since - I like dark much better! Now I'm my natural hair color with a few grays coming in... yikes!

Aw, I'm sorry you had some hair drama! I'm a VERY impuslive person and so years ago decided I needed a change (yes, it was a boyfriend breakup kinda change) and I got a PERM....huh? What? Yes, a PERM....horrible outcome....nice perm...but NOT ME! So, I waited and waited and stretched it out cuz it cost me a ton of money and I could not just WASTE it and so maybe 4 or 5 months later I straightened it. Ugh! I loved how you shared the girls' reactions! Hope you're having a great weekend!

Hugs,
Mo

lol ... i once got my hair so red that i had to have it coloured with green to even allow it to be covered over with another dye ... cost me a whole lot to fix it ... and my DD just cut her BFF's hair the other night ... that was a total hoot! thanks goodness she had it professionaly fixed .... hehehe

Oh, too funny! But we've all been there! And I think in a majority of cases, the tail end of a long Canadian winter is the reason! Winter should just be banned.

I so feel your pain! I did this back last summer and boy it not something you easily forget!

Oh girl. a friend and I did my own highlights once...what a disaster...LOL I mean really bad! Now I do my own base and then go in for highlights...oh and don't buy a different brand of color just because you have a coupon...that one is another story...

I've never had trouble with coloring, but I once made my hair pink... on purpose! looking forward to seeing the new hairdo at our next crop!

I totally tried to do the red thing after my first year of college & not even kidding - it was almost purple - I wore a hat for weeks & washed it like 3 times a day :)

Debbie said...

Oh most certainly I have!!~ I have had every color...Reds are hard, and a nightmare when fading....I am back to my darker toned natural color, it's working much better!!~

Cute post. This really made me smile. My niece recently did a number on her hair and didn't want to go to school the next day. Didn't work, though she kept trying. LOL
