I have been trying to turn one year of my blog into a book for some time now with crappy mixed results. This is how I feel right now:
Pros:
1. highly customizable (if you know what you are doing)
2. quick slurp up of your blog and numerous pictures, including future auto-posts
Cons:
1. They put one post per page and I cannot get the text to unlock so that I can change that.
2. I have spent tons of time trying to figure it out.
3. You have to download Booksmart to your computer.
4. They have tons of different layouts but not ONE is a column that mixes text, picture, text, picture (which is what everyone's blog looks like!!!! This is my main frustration. I want my book to look like my blog, especially since I refer to pictures above and below in my text. Blurb puts the pictures in tons of configurations but not this one - What the Fudge?
So I tried Blog2Print
Pros:
1. They ask you for dates to include in your book and then slurp it up fairly quickly.
2. It came in a column format! But only one, which is a totally weird look because the book could easily accommodate 2 columns.
Cons:
1. They include a table of contents that you cannot delete but have to pay for (mine was 12 pages)!
2. Not very customizable. They let you delete individual posts, which is good, but the pagination is really weird. For example: They will cut off a post and leave one picture, with no accompanying text, on the top of a page. Why not just move the whole post to that page or at least one line of text? I don't get it! Soooo, I considered SHUTTERFLY: I figured that I could make a photobook with columns and just cut and paste my text. Very labour intensive, but if I got the look I wanted then I figured it would be worth it! But they didn't have a single format that looked like columns either.
LONG STORY SHORT:
I haven't found an option that would give me a book with 2 side by side columns on a page, with pictures and text, so I didn't order a book. Especially since the one that came closest (Cutest blog on the block) was over $100!
If anyone has had ANY success in turning their blog into a book or know of another site I could try, please let me know! What has you frusterated lately?
