OK, funny story:
We had had an OLD fake Christmas tree (we got it used) for a few years when I heard that if your tree was giving off an odor it meant that the plastic in the tree was breaking down and emitting very harmful chemicals into your home!
So I got totally paranoid and made Snuffy throw away the tree (without checking out the veracity of the statement)! I was pregnant at the time so cut me some slack (pregnancy makes me nuts) LOL!
He asked me if I wanted to pick out a real tree but I just told him to grab one on his way home. I laughed soooo hard when I saw it! It looked EXACTLY like our scrawny old hurtin Charlie Brown tree! What the fudge?
Apparently, having only had fake trees as a kid he thought they looked better when you could see through all the branches right to the walls LOL! He said it shows off the ornaments better! WHATEVER!!!
Get me a bushy full tree!!!! Soooooo, ever after that we cut down our tree! Last year it was so cold we should have dressed for snow.

TWOC #9 - Oh Christmas Tree
Lots of complaining so we picked a tree FAST and went off to have the best part - hot chocolate!
Our decorated tree: (only slightly scrawny at the top)
How sweet are these two?
Can't wait to see all you Martha's out there with your absolutely fabulous coordinated trees!

too funny! Hubby brought home a Charlie Brown tree one year too. The next year it was one so cutltured and full we couldn't hang anything on it! Now they are usually just right! and my tree is no Martha Stewart tree (I would love it to be) - so many things that the kids have made, etc. (and no it is not up yet)
LOL, that is too funny!
I didn't know about the fake trees emitting gross stuff so I had better sniff mine before I decorate it!

I can hear the sniffing across blog land now! I had not heard that about artificial trees. I adore your sense of humor!
Your tree looks great and your girls are so adorable!
Have a wonderful Sunday!
Hugs,

Too cute, love the story...and love the pick of the girls with their hot chocos!
Love the pics and the story to go with it!!!
I have one of those FAKE trees....because the kitty eats the needles on a real tree...why...I have no idea!!!
We put ours up this weekend!!!
aS A KID MY MOTHER ALWAYS GOT A REAL TREE..& YES SHE SAID FULL , FULL TREES ARE THE BEST!!.however its not everything if its not. Its the family gathered around the tree that matters.
& I am with ya on the hot chocolate..that is without a doubt the best part!!
too funny! Great pics of the girls! There's nothing like a real tree though. I love how a Blue Spruce can fill the air with it's lovely scent for weeks and it doesn't drop it's needles.
Stop signs are from Granville Island and french was not my first language. I do wish I learned more before I came out West though!
I am so totally with your man on this, Charlie Brown trees are the only way to go if you are doing fresh. I have a fake, my deal of the century that i picked up for under $3.00 last year at garden works, its amazing ... i've got about 1200 lights on it and it still looks like it needs more up top. and now, not a martha tree, nothing matches but it all has memories ... and you cant buy that ... :)
Such a cute story! I SO wish we could have a real tree, but sadly for my family, I am allergic to the pine needles! But Oh the smell, it's just beautiful. Love your tradition of cutting the tree and then going for hot cocoa, memories like that can never be replaced :)
Great story, and I love the photos!
What a great story about the tree! I love the picture of your kiddo! BETH

What a great story! My husband makes fun of the little decorator trees I have (we get a real every year!) because he grew up with real.
AGH! I missed a give-away??? BOO!!!
I love your tree story! That's one to retell every year.
I love your tree. I'm not a huge fan of coordinated trees, either!
Your girls are adorable!
I swear I commented on this...but swearing might make Santa mad so let me just say that your little cocoa drinkers are totally, totally sweet!
What a cute post. Love the pic of your little ones drinking the cocoa in the car! Have a great Christmas!
